Pribicevic Wins by Four. In a Par Comp, That's a Canyon.
Mikael Pribicevic has spent the young season in and around the lead without clinching a title. On Saturday that finally changed, and there was no doubt by the end. Off a handicap of 16 he finished +6, three to the good on the front and three more on the back, a steady consistency that dominated the par comp. The round carried only two slight hiccups, a minus on the 7th and another on the 14th, but eight holes won against par left him well and truly on top.
Four clear is a canyon in this format. Pribicevic finished more than 10 ahead of where the field landed on average, on a day that was hard going for nearly everyone else. Five episodes into the season, there have been five different winners. Nobody has worked out how to do it twice.

Through 17 holes Dave Perry was exactly on the number. The last, a par 4 where his handicap gave him a shot, asked only for a bogey five to halve the hole and make the cut. He came up one short. Next week, Dave.
Villain Hole
Index 13, and the Toughest Hole on the Course. Again.
The 4th beat 41 of the 72 who played it, more than any other hole, which makes it the hardest on the course two Saturdays running. The odd part: it is rated stroke index 13, one of the holes that is meant to give something back. Nobody has told the 4th. The 6th, the index-1 hole that is supposed to be the hardest on the property, had to settle for second.

Last Week's Winner, Three Down at the Turn.
John Tregunna won Episode 4. Seven days later he made the turn at -3, a 7 on the par-4 6th among the wreckage, looking nothing like the man who had lifted the trophy. The back nine put it right: +1 coming home, enough to climb to 15th and finish comfortably inside the cut.

Bill Colwell was +1 at the turn and right in the mix. The back nine had other plans: a 5 on the par-3 12th started the slide, and he played the closing nine in -6 to finish 44th, the wrong side of the cut. Some Saturdays the turn is as good as it gets.

Tony Reynolds isn't a member. He played off 25, finished +2, and walked off third. The visitors' book has rarely looked better.
17th
On a day the course won nearly every argument, the par-3 17th was the lone soft touch: 5 birdies, and the only hole on the property to play under par after handicap strokes. Everywhere else, the card bit back.
Form Watch
Rowden and McPhail. Five from Five.
Jasper Rowden and Stu McPhail are the only two players to have teed it up in all five episodes of the season and walked off with a cut every time. Five starts, five cuts each, and nobody else has matched it. How long either run lasts is one of the quiet questions of the season. Gary Ryan made the first three cuts of the season, then missed by one on his return. The Episode 1 champion's streak is over; the trophy is not going anywhere.
Luca Bailey, whose cut run slipped in Episode 4, bounced straight back inside the top 10, 9th on Saturday.
Lynda Trevenar and Rhonda Ferguson both broke into the top 10 for the first time this season, 6th and 10th.

Mikael Pribicevic, +6 and four clear, a dominant performance in the season's first par event. Five episodes, five winners. The Scorecard Stories season is heating up.
