The story behind the stories

Why this
exists

Every Saturday across Australia, thousands of club golfers compete. The data is rich, the drama is real, and almost none of it is ever told.

The gap

The data has always been there. The storytelling hasn't.

Every Saturday competition produces a leaderboard, a field breakdown, dozens of individual performances, and more than a few moments that deserve to be remembered. A hole-in-one. A three-way countback. A low marker who shot a career round.

Most clubs send a results email. A spreadsheet. Maybe a post on the noticeboard. And then it's gone — a week's worth of real sport, reduced to a number and forgotten by Sunday afternoon.

"The bar after the round, if the bloke next to you had read every score and still had opinions about all of them."

What we do

Competition data, turned into something worth reading.

Scorecard Stories takes the raw competition data — every score, every countback, every birdie — and turns it into a weekly read. Not a results dump. An actual story, verified against every card in the field.

The winner gets a proper write-up. The villain holes get named. The bloke who quietly made the cut three weeks running gets noticed. Club golf, covered like the sport it is.

The vision

Starting at Balgowlah. Built to grow.

We launched in May 2026 with Balgowlah Golf Club on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Every Saturday comp covered, every episode free.

The plan is clubs across Sydney and beyond, one at a time, done properly. Not a template churned out at scale — a publication, for members who care about their club. All it takes is the two files your comp software already produces every Saturday.

If that sounds like your club, we'd love to hear from you.
