The data has always been there. The storytelling hasn't.
Every club competition produces a leaderboard, a field breakdown, dozens of individual performances, and more than a few moments that deserve to be remembered. A hole-in-one. A three-way countback. A back nine that rescued a dead round. A collapse on the 17th with the cut one point away.
Most clubs send a results email. A spreadsheet. Maybe a post on the noticeboard. And then it's gone. A week's worth of real sport, reduced to a number and forgotten by Sunday afternoon.
Club golf is real sport. We cover it like it.
What we do
Competition data, turned into something worth reading.
Scorecard Stories takes the raw competition data, every score, every countback, every birdie, and turns it into a weekly read. Not a results dump. An actual story, verified against every card in the field.
The winner gets a proper write-up. The villain holes get named. The back nine recovery gets its moment, and so does the card that fell apart with the cut in sight.
And it builds. Week one is just a leaderboard. Ten weeks in it's a season, with cut streaks on the line, a new name on top every Saturday, and players you've started to follow. The longer a club is covered, the better the story gets.
How it's made

A confession, because you'd work it out anyway: Scorecard Stories is written with AI, and we'd rather tell you than have you wonder.
The numbers are done by code, every score, every countback, every cut line, checked against every card in the field before a single word is written. No guesses, no rounding errors, no "close enough." Then our writer, Ed Quinlan, turns the verified facts into the read. Ed's an AI, a well-read one with a dry sense of humour and a soft spot for the player who quietly made the cut.
And every week, before an edition goes out, a human reads the whole thing. The maths is left to the machine, because machines are better at maths. The judgement, the tone, whether a line is fair on someone, that stays with a person.
The accuracy of code, the warmth of a real golf writer, checked by someone who cares that we got it right. We think that's the right way round.

We launched in May 2026 with Balgowlah Golf Club on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Every Saturday comp covered, every episode free.
We've built it to scale, the same engine producing every edition, every week. The trick is that none of them read like it. Every story is checked against that club's own cards and written like someone watched the round, so a hundred clubs could each feel like the only one. The point was never to cover one club. It's to cover every club this well. All it takes is the results your comp software already produces.
